Executive Summary

Bachelor of Business Administration – Concentration in Entrepreneurship

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at American Military University, I have built a strong foundation in business principles, critical thinking, and leadership. Which are skills that directly align with my long-term goal of successfully launching and managing my own business. I chose this program specifically to better prepare myself for the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship and to gain the knowledge required to transform innovative ideas into sustainable business ventures.

This portfolio has been organized to reflect the comprehensive academic journey I completed. It includes sections detailing my general education coursework, major requirements, and entrepreneurship concentration, followed by reflections on program outcomes and their alignment with my career goals. Each section offers insight into the subjects covered and highlights the skills and competencies I developed along the way.

The general education component (30 credit hours) provided a strong interdisciplinary foundation. Courses such as PHIL101: Introduction to Philosophy and PHIL110: Critical Thinking sharpened my ability to reason logically and ethically. In ECON201 and ECON202, I gained essential economic insights relevant to both small and large business environments. Communication-focused courses such as ENGL110, COMM120, and ENGL226 significantly improved my writing and digital literacy. These skills are critical for business communication and marketing.

My major coursework (36 credit hours) provided a structured understanding of key business functions. From BUSN100: Basics of Business to FINC300: Foundations of Financial Management, I explored core areas including marketing, finance, supervision, operations, and accounting. BUSN311: Law and Ethics in the Business Environment introduced me to the legal dimensions of business, while BUSN410: Critical Thinking Strategies for Business Decisions refined my decision-making process in real-world scenarios. Technical courses like ITCC200 and analytical subjects like MATH302and BUSN312 gave me the tools to apply software and statistical techniques to business problems.

The entrepreneurship concentration (12 credit hours) was the most personally rewarding part of the program. In ENTR311: Business Plan Foundations, I developed a complete business plan, which included market analysis, operational structure, and financial forecasting. ENTR421: The Value of Networking highlighted how strategic relationships contribute to business growth, while ENTR426: Strategic Growth taught me to scale a business through innovation and systems thinking. I am currently completing ENTR425: Operating a Small Business, where I’m learning the day-to-day realities of entrepreneurship through shared experience and real-case applications.

Overall, this program has exceeded my expectations, equipping me with both the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to succeed in the entrepreneurial world. It has developed my ability to lead with confidence, think critically, and solve complex business challenges. Earning this degree has not only met my academic and professional goals but has also laid a solid foundation for the next chapter in my career, launching and growing my own business. I am confident that the tools and knowledge I’ve gained from AMU will provide a competitive edge in today’s dynamic business environment.
